Research:
Research concentrates on the synthesis and
characterization of biocompatibel and biodegradable polymers.
We collaborate closely with the Boston Retinal Implant Project http://www.bostonretinalimplant.org
on the hermetic and biocompatible encapsulation of retinal
implants. We study methods of deposition, physical properties and
biocompatibility of materials that provide barrier properties and
amphiphilic block copolymers that convey biocompatibility.
Natural-synthetic hybrid block and graft copolymers are
synthesized and studied for the ability to self-assemble into nano and
microparticles that can potentially act as drug delivery vehicles.
