Major Instrumentation
The Chemistry Department has a wide range of analytical facilities. These
include:
- atomic absorption spectrometers (AAS)
- several binary gradient liquid chromatography (LC) system
- fluorescence spectrometer
- gas chromatograph/mass spectrometer (GC/MS)
- HPLC chromatograph/mass spectrometer (LC/MS)
- plasma chemistry apparatus
- Jarrell-Ash 2 meter spectrometer
- HP ultraviolet-visible (UV-VIS) spectrometer with kinetics apparatus and
Beckman UV-VIS spectrometer
- high pressure liquid chromatograph (HPLC) stations
- various CW and pulsed lasers
- SGI workstations
A Biomolecular NMR Laboratory has
recently been established in the Chemistry Department with the following
instrumentation:
- Varian 500 MHz Fourier transform nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)
spectrometer equipped for protein as well as HPLC-NMR studies
- Varian 800 MHz Fourier transform nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)
spectrometer equipped for protein studies schedulded for March 2002
A Laboratory for Structural Biology
has recently been established in the Chemistry Department with the following
instrumentation:
- SGI workstations for molecular modeling
- Beckman JA-25 centrifuge
- Ragaku x-ray diffractometer with area and signal counting detectors
We also have access to instrumantation available in the
Laboratory for Materials and Surface
Science.
