{short description of image}

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Alabama in Huntsville invites qualified undergraduate students to participate in the 2004 Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Program supported by the Alabama Space Grant Consortium.

Each student selected to participate in the program is assigned to a specific project and faculty member, where the student works closely with the faculty mentor. This selection is, whenever possible, based on preferences expressed by the student. In addition to the research program, students also participate in a variety of seminars, weekly meetings, and social functions.

Students from groups that are traditionally under-represented in science (women, under-represented ethnic and racial minorities, and those with physical challenges) are especially encouraged to apply. Also, students from smaller undergraduate institutions with limited opportunities for research are encouraged to apply. Additionally, UAH undergraduate students have the opportunity to participate either during the summer or the whole year.

Each student chosen to participate in the summer will receive $6.75 per hour.

Applying for the REU program

Interested students have to submit an application form together with a one page statement describing their research interest. Additionally, they have to request the submission of evaluation reports by two professors of their choice.
