Welcome!

We invite you to explore our Web pages to learn more about the activities and opportunities in the field of chemistry at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

A Brief History

The M.S. program in Chemistry was implemented at UAH in 1975. This program has both a Plan 1 (thesis) and Plan 2 (coursework) option. This innovative program involves fifteen faculty at UAH and presently has five students in it.

The Faculty and Research

Currently, the chemistry department is composed of eleven tenured or tenure earning faculty members, five research professors, and four adjunct professors. Research interests at UAH are varied, as shown in the faculty listing. Research in the Department of Chemistry is pursued along all five of the main subdivisions, i.e., analytical, biochemistry, inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry. Students have access not only to the University Library, with 6000 holdings in chemistry and 150 current chemical journal subscriptions, but also to the U.S Army Redstone Scientific Information Center, which is one of the best scientific libraries in the country.
